Junior Colleagues

The SIRC is not only an NIMH-funded conference series, but also a contingent of experts whose collective interest is in advancing the field of implementation science with a focus on Evidence Based Psychosocial Intervention implementation research methodology issues. The core group of the SIRC has worked hard to identify experts in the field who together constitute the Strategic Planning Group (SPG).

We are now actively seeking junior colleagues to join the SPG. The SPG will be connected through a password protected page on the SIRC website linking members to a developing library of implementation-related articles, a comprehensive review of implementation measures and instruments, and information about colleagues to facilitate networking, collaborating, and consultation.

We hope that the formation of the SPG will promote collaboration between and beyond the conferences. The SPG is committed to facilitating the advancement of junior colleagues. SPG members will have the opportunity to present their work at the Invited Research Day of the conferences. This one-day invited research meeting of experts in implementation research with junior and community colleagues will be held on the day following the Two-Day Research Conference and focus on maximizing the methodology of new and in-progress implementation research projects and building collaboration between participants.

Junior SPG members are invited to present posters of their work-in-progress at the upcoming conference during a reception with conference attendees. This poster reception is intended to foster helpful conversations among SIRC members that lead to improvements in junior colleagues’ work and generate collaborative opportunities… hopefully both. At the poster reception, SPG members will review and select an “Outstanding Proposal by a Junior SPG Colleague” which will be awarded at the end of the conference.

The conference will also feature a networking coffee house during one of the half-hour breaks where SIRC members are encouraged to gather according to areas of interest. SIRC aims to host a panel of recent grantees who will share tips for D&I grant writing. Additional junior SPG activities are in the works.

Furthermore, SIRC is committed to assisting with junior colleague mentoring between conferences. We will be helping to formalize mentoring of junior SPG by senior colleagues. We are also building a resource database for junior SPG members including successfully-funded grant applications, for instance.
